Hidden Vinyl

Guest post written by Megan Cooper

My fascination with vinyl records grew out of the collection that my dad still keeps today, long after virtually everyone switched over to cassette tapes and then CDs. After years of collecting dust, I go through all of them and look at all the faded album art and look at what was in style back in the day.

I DJ a little bit on the side so sometimes I’ll borrow his records to play, but most of the time I’ll use ones that I’ve found on my own. You could say that hunting for new vinyl records is my other main pastime.

Most of my leads for vinyl treasures come from the vinyl-enthusiast discussion boards online and I also use websites like eBay to bid on and buy especially hard-to-find records. I was having some trouble with my old Internet provider when buying records and then I switched over after I came across some satellite internet specials.

I also like to go to flea markets and yard sales and look through old record collections, which is where I find some of the best treasures.
