This has to be one of the worst ideas ever…..by Apple at least. Sure, we’ve seen Sony do this a hundred times, but Apple, this is a surprise….sorta. Sure, it’s a horrible idea to sell something so limiting as proprietary headphones with a portable mp3 player but it’s not like this is the first time Apple has tried to make it’s mp3 player owners find it difficult or impossible to upgrade using anything not made by Apple.
Have you ever heard of iTunes? Until recently, since mp3 sellers have been selling music DRM free, iTunes was just about the only choice for buying new music for iPod owners. Shit, people still think they HAVE to use iTunes when they buy an iPod.

To put the controls on the headphones like this is aweful. First off, it’s going to make upgrading your headphones with the shuffle a real bitch because new Shuffle owners will have to wait for other companies to make these special headphones. Secondly, It would bother the shit out of me to have something unbalanced dangling from my head. Third, I think people with iPods are douchebags (for the most part) and this just outs all you iPod owners.
I just can’t figure out why anyone would want to buy a new iPod Shuffle. There’s no screen (which means no iPod porn for you), it’s ridiculously overpriced (there are so many cheaper, better alternatives), and it’s an iPod!
I’ve never owned an iPod and I never will. I am, however, a huge Creative Fan. I own a Zen, and a Zen Vision M. I also love my little Sansa Express as well.
Sure, you could buy an iPod Shuffle, but then I’d think you’re an asshole.
